Market penetration for AMR solutions has long been limited by the costs associated with equipment and communications.
A key initiative is the development of a specialised radio solution aimed at meeting the challenges of implementing wide area, uni or bi-directional, low data rate systems at low cost. This is a radio technology that when combined with the ability to deliver data via the Internet, forms a complete system, making a compelling and competitive offering suitable for a number of different telemetry or machine to machine markets.
The TruRead radio technology has been developed by experts in AMR from years of experience deploying such systems in the UK and USA and especially developed to maximise range and penetration within a building.

A transmitter is attached to the meter. Each transmitter has a unique identity and is powered by an internal long life battery (typically 5 years with 5 minute transmissions).
The transmitter continuously senses the flow or consumption and is programmed to periodically transmit the consumption data securely to a receiver (hub). The hub can seamlessly work with any number of transmitters to forward the data in two ways:-
1. Connect to the internet for secure IP messaging or;
2. Connect using GSM communications
The data transmissions from all the transmitter devices received by the hub can be up to ½km away, depending on the building. In large sites the hub is also able to repeat a signal between other hubs which creates a mini mesh network. This overall package greatly reduces the total cost of ownership.
TruRead’s low powered radio solution will work with Electricity, Gas & Water primary or secondary meters. Also due to its low cost, this technology can be deployed to monitor temperature, humidity, foot fall and host of other measurables that combined can produce great energy savings to consumers.
