April 2010

Well Easter has come and gone and another holiday has passed by. As an engineer, every year I do a mental calculation to determine if it is better value to buy a boring bar of chocolate or a shiny, fancy egg. My mind wanders from the logical calculation of cost per gram to the thought of that thick chocolaty shell and the egg wins. Come Good Friday, yes a day too early, we crack open the egg and find to my disappointment that the 10mm thickness shell I expected is but one of 3mm. Has someone in the egg factory stolen the missing 7mm of chocolate?

Then my mind turns to thinking about the Easter Bunny. Rabbits have always been portrayed as cute, harmless, and occasional fecund beasts that are completely innocuous. Whilst munching my smashed egg I start to think that perhaps rabbits are not so cute and the missing chocolate is all the fault of the Easter Bunny – he is responsible, he has used my missing chocolate to make clones of its self! What should I do? I then switch to thinking of how to get revenge on the bunny! I race out to buy a few of the last remaining chocolate Oryctolagus Cuniculus.

Here are the conclusions of my thoughts on ways to take revenge on the evil chocolate stealing bunny:

  • Use heat to melt your chocolate bunny to a gooey liquid death. An iron, hair dryer or blow torch would well for this purpose.
  • Bite off the bunny's feet and gradually nibble towards the head and lick your lips as he watches!
  • Dip the bunny in coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Watch him dissolve then drink to his demise!
  • Smash the bunny to bit, making sure none escapes.

And of cause having taken action on the bunny, thoughts turn back to the time of year.

Easter and Spring are a time for change, marking a transition from the cold dark of winter to the warm bright future of the summer and in the near future the potential change that may come from a General Election. So we sit in anticipation and ponder on what my change following the Election?

TruRead is a relatively small business. We have seen and lived through the turmoil of the economic crisis. The question we ask is how will the politics of the next 5 years affect our business?

Here at TruRead we have been working hard to deploy smart meters for commercial and industrial customers. Customers love what they can offer. Big question is, how will the outcomes of the election affect the rollout of Smart Meters - will the major parties become a shade greener and accelerate the rollout of such energy saving devices? We can only guess and we will just have to wait to see.....
